Excursion to the Allianz Technical Center

On October 23, 2025, students of the bachelor’s program in Industrial Engineering visited the Allianz Technical Center on the campus of the Turkish-German University in Beykoz as part of the course WIN311 Project I: Innovation and Technology Management. The excursion took place together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Hofmann and was led by Dr. Ceyhun Eren, Risk Engineer and Technical Director at Allianz. The visit aimed to deepen the technical and economic knowledge conveyed in the course through real industrial applications.
Allianz Teknik is Turkey’s first accredited earthquake and fire testing center, integrating testing, inspection, and training activities within a single facility. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, seismic testing facilities, fire and flame simulation rooms, as well as practice-oriented training areas.
During the guided tour, the students gained insights into earthquake and fire safety tests conducted in accordance with international standards, as well as into the organization of complex testing processes. It became evident how technical safety, risk management, standards, quality assurance, and economic decision-making interact in industrial projects.
The excursion provided a practical perspective on the professional opportunities available to industrial engineers in sectors such as industry, energy, construction, insurance, and technical consulting. It thus represented a valuable complement to academic education and highlighted the importance of university–industry cooperation.
