New Publication: “Designing robust capability-based distributed machine layouts with random machine availability and fuzzy demand/process flow information”

Our Operations Research Department Research Assistant Bilge Varol, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemal Subulan and Prof. Dr. Adil Baykasoğlu from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University, has published a new paper in the WOS-SCI Q2 indexed journal Soft Computing.
This study stands out as one of the first comprehensive research efforts addressing capability-based distributed layout (CBDL) problems under uncertainty. While previous studies did not consider random machine unavailability (or random machine breakdowns) and fuzzy demand/process flow, this paper presents a robust capability-based distributed layout (R-CBDL) design by developing a fuzzy-stochastic optimization model.
